U.S. Dept of State to get inside look at Azerbaijan’s economy
The US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Kurt Tong will be visiting Azerbaijan April 14 - 15, 2016, the US Embassy in Azerbaijan said in a message.
Tong will meet with Azerbaijani government officials, both Azerbaijani and US businesses in Baku, and Azerbaijani university students to hear firsthand about Azerbaijan's economic situation, reforms, and diversification efforts, according to the embassy.
He looks forward to discussing how the US government is assisting Azerbaijan's economic growth, and how that assistance can be improved, the embassy said, adding that this will be Tong's first trip to Azerbaijan.
Tong supports the US State Department's global economic diplomacy efforts, engaging with partners around the world on trade, finance, telecommunications, transportation, economic sanctions, commercial opportunities, and a host of other issues, according to the message.
Tong has served as US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs since July of 2014.
