Elman Rustamov reappointed chairman of CBA
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree Apr. 9 appointing Elman Rustamov as the chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Rustamov was born on June 29, 1952, in the Jabrail district of Azerbaijan. In 1973, he graduated with honors from the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy named after D. Bunyadzadeh.
Between 1980 and 1990, he served as the senior economist and the department head at the Scientific Research Institute of Economics.
In 1991-1992, he was the senior advisor at the Azerbaijani President’s Office.
From 1992, he served as the first deputy chairman of the National Bank of Azerbaijan, and since January 1995, he has been the chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
He is married and has three children.
