Cargo tariffs down, passenger fees up in April

Cargo tariffs in the Azerbaijani transport sector decreased by 1.2 percent in April compared to March, the State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.
The average fee for railway traffic for 10 tons of goods per kilometer rose for imports, transportation in the country, export from the country, and transit.
Tariffs for cargo traffic by air to the CIS countries also increased -- by 1.5 percent.
Tariffs on oil transportation fell by 2.5 percent in April.
According to the statistics committee, fees on passenger transportation increased by 0.5 percent in April. Passengers' traffic by railway to CIS countries became more expensive by 16.7 percent.
The cost of air traffic to CIS countries rose by 0.4 percent, and a 2.6 percent rise was posted for other countries.
The Azerbaijani transport sector transported 48.4 million tons of cargo in the first quarter of 2013, which is 1.4 percent more than in the same period of 2012.
71.1 percent of the goods transported during this period fell to the private sector. 51.8 percent of the goods were transported by vehicles, while 30.2 percent by pipelines, 11.4 percent by railway and 6.6 percent by ships.
