Azeri govt forecasts grain yield in 2013

The government forecasts the grain harvest in Azerbaijan in 2013 at least at the level of 2.7-2.8 million tons, according to the agriculture minister.

Over nine months of 2012, around 2.763 million tons of grain were collected in the country, of which 1.844 million falls to wheat.

Minister Ismet Abbasov told media Thursday that the grain yield this year increased by 1.6 per cent and that of wheat -- by 1.7 per cent.

"These figures are positive," he said. "After large farms start working we will be able to produce grain in the volumes that would cover the entire demand in the country."
