Azercell`s 4G modems go on sale

Cellular operator Azercell has introduced the cutting edge 4G technology for the first time in Azerbaijan. The company launched the 4G network in the capital Baku on May 24.

On Tuesday, 4G modems went on sale. The modems, costing 149 manats (around $190), are available at Azercell Express offices in Baku as well as dealerships. Azercell`s monthly unlimited Internet package costs 45 manats ($57), including value added tax, but the company is now offering its customers unlimited Internet use free of charge for one month.

4G is a modern technology granting mobile Internet access at a speed of up to 100 Mb/sec. The technology is currently applied only in a handful of countries.

Azercell`s 4G network covers the central parts of Baku, as well as crowded places of the city, including the seaside park, Crystal Hall, Elmlar Akademiyasi subway station, Natavan Plaza, Pedagogical University named after Nasraddin Tusi, Azerbaijan Drama Theater, Kempinski hotel, and the area around the monument to Nariman Narimanov.

Azercell plans to expand the 4G network by the end of the year.
