The decision was announced following a video-conference meeting between Orkhan Nazarli, President of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA) and Head of the Azerbaijani State Tax Service, and Edita Janušienė, Head of the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate under the Finance Ministry.
The meeting underscored the significance of deepening ties between the two organizations and highlighted progress achieved through enhanced mutual relations. Discussions covered Azerbaijan’s priorities during its IOTA presidency and the partnership opportunities to address the organization’s challenges.
Both sides reviewed proposals to improve IOTA’s operations, emphasized the importance of fair economic practices, and stressed adherence to international standards in fostering investments. The role of effective fiscal tools and mechanisms in supporting IOTA’s initiatives was also explored.
Key areas of cooperation, the advancement of international relations between tax authorities, and potential joint projects were discussed as part of the future road-map.
