Baku to host ministerial round Table on “Sustainable, Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond” at COP29

On November 20, Baku will host a high-level ministerial round table on “Sustainable, Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond” as part of COP29, Azernews reports.

The round table is organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

According to the Ministry, the round table will serve as a platform for in-depth discussions on developing sustainable and reliable transport networks in the region, focusing on the Middle Corridor.

Currently, more than 80 percent of ground transportation from China to Europe is carried out through Kazakhstan. According to the information from the Kazakh side, during the 9 months of this year, the volume of transportation along the Middle Corridor exceeded the indicators of the entire last year by 23 percent and amounted to 3.4 million tons. It is planned to increase the volume of cargo transportation to 10 million tons per year by 2030.
