EBRD to lead delegation at COP29 in Baku, focused on climate action and green finance
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22, Azernews reports.
The EBRD delegation will be led by the bank's president, Odile Reno-Basso.
The delegation will include the bank's First Vice President, Jurgen Rigterink, Vice President Mark Bowman, and Managing Director of Climate Strategy and Implementation, Harry Boyd-Carpenter.
This year, COP29 will focus on strengthening climate action, increasing financing, and engaging the private sector.
A long-time leader in climate finance, the EBRD has set a goal of directing at least 50 percent of its projects towards "green" initiatives. Last year, the bank achieved this goal, investing 6.5 billion euros in "green" projects.
A series of events organized by the EBRD will be broadcast live, informing a wide audience about the bank's latest climate initiatives and its strategy to drive change through "green" innovation and private financing.
