Azernews reports that Vladanka Andreeva, the resident coordinator of the UN in Azerbaijan, shared this insight at a conference in Baku focused on the presentation of a unified platform and national standards on Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG).
According to Andreeva, the ESG standards are essential in helping companies reduce carbon emissions, enable investments in sustainable supply chains, promote social and gender equality, and improve transparency.
"Therefore, the COP29 conference to be held in Azerbaijan is of great importance. This event will be the main platform for not only the climate agenda but also the 2030 sustainable development agenda. The next few years are critical for bold climate action. We should make the most of this opportunity," she said.
