COP29 partners with Azerenergy to power Baku Stadium with green energy
To meet the energy needs of Baku Stadium from green sources, COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with "Yashil Enerji Electric Station" LLC (Green Energy LLC) under Azerenergy OJSC, Azernews reports.
The memorandum was signed by Emil Ibadov, director of "Yashil Enerji Electric Station" LLC, and Hikmet Mustafayev, chief of staff of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company.
Emil Ibadov also noted that 32 hydropower plants have been commissioned in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur, with a total capacity of 270 megawatts. Currently, the construction of six new hydropower plants is underway, expected to provide an additional capacity of 37.5 megawatts.
"There is potential for 30 more station projects with a capacity of 150 megawatts in the region. All these plants can supply the regions with adequate electricity. Azerenergy produces 600 million kilowatt-hours of green energy annually, saving 160 million cubic meters of natural gas and preventing the release of up to three million tons of carbon dioxide," stated E. Ibadov.
