Azerbaijan's State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee has outlined the general plan of the city of Aghdam regarding the construction of internal roads.

As reported by Azernews referring to the Committee, the total length of the city's internal roads is expected to be 189.7 kilometers.

Besides, the Committee reports that internal roads in Aghdam city are planned to be built according to six types of cross-sections.

Depending on the importance of each type of cross-section, the number of traffic lanes will range from 2 to 8, the width of the green lane will be 1.5 to 3 meters, the width of the bicycle lane will be 1.5 meters, and the width of the pedestrian lane will be 4 to 6 meters.

The length of highways under the project is 17.5 kilometers. These roads, which will be 55 to 60 meters wide, will consist of 6 to 8 traffic lanes. The length of city-wide important roads will be 50 kilometers, and the total length of locally important roads will be 122.2 kilometers.

It should be noted that construction works are currently being carried out in the first stage on a 58.7-kilometer section. In this context, the soil bed and the construction of the road base are ongoing in that area. Asphalt-concrete paving has begun on sections where the road base is ready.

Additionally, the construction of communication lines (water, sewage, rainwater pipes, gas, communication, and electric lines) in Aghdam city is being carried out along the streets. Physical progress on this section is 70% complete.

Construction and restoration works are being conducted in accordance with the "Construction Norms and Rules" under the personal supervision of the management of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Highways.

In accordance with the "I State Program on the Great Return to Azerbaijan's liberated territories," the construction of internal roads in Aghdam city is expected to be completed by 2026.
