In the face of growing geopolitical tensions and international uncertainties, we must remain focused on the critical imperative of global cooperation and actionable solutions for climate change.

This message is conveyed in a letter addressed to COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev and all participants of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP), Azernews reports.

In this letter, Mukhtar Babayev outlines the objectives and expectations for COP29, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties. He emphasized that COP29 will serve as a litmus test for the Paris Agreement and for global efforts to combat climate change.

The COP29 President highlighted the central principles of the summit and discussed strategies to elevate the ambition of climate goals. Babayev stated, “In our consultations for the COP29 presidency, we have presented a vision built on two parallel tracks: raising ambition and creating conditions for effective climate action, along with securing climate finance. These two pillars reinforce each other and are essential for the successful implementation of our key mandates and activities. Our focus is on building trust, fostering solidarity, and maintaining momentum.”

Furthermore, Babayev affirmed that the COP29 presidency will continue to engage actively with all parties involved and expressed optimism that the upcoming summit will achieve significant success.
