Azerbaijan, Ukraine agree on new international passenger transportation routes

A meeting of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission in the field of international road communication between the two countries was held in Baku on May 31.
Head of the State Road Transport Service of Azerbaijan’s Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ministry Habib Hasanov and Viktor Sasin, Director of the Road Transport Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, attended the meeting, according to the State Road Transport Service of Azerbaijan.
The meeting discussed the current situation in the field of international road transport between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the exchange of statistical data, the problems of road carriers during the cargo and passenger transportation and their solution, as well as the prospects for the transport development and other relevant issues.
The sides noted that favorable conditions were fully provided for Ukrainian carriers not to face a special check when entering Azerbaijan in order to eliminate unnecessary obstacles in cooperation.
Sasin informed the Azerbaijani delegation about the innovations of the Ukrainian government in the use of electronic services in the field of international transport.
The parties stressed that presently there is an international route of passenger transportation between the two countries, agreed to study the flow of passengers between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, and if necessary to open new routes for international transportation of passengers between Azerbaijan and other cities of Ukraine.
Moreover, the sides discussed determining the number of quotas for the issuance of permits for international passenger traffic between the two countries in 2019. This issue will be considered again at the next meeting.
