Aviation Administrations of Azerbaijan, Iraq hold talks
By Rashid Shirinov
The delegations of Aviation Administrations of Azerbaijan and Iraq has held talks in Baku.
During the talks, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of air transportation, said a message of Azerbaijan’s State Civil Aviation Administration from October 19. Furthermore, they talked about the prospects of regular passenger and cargo flights between the two countries. The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan and Iraq’s airlines.
Moreover, the Iraqi delegation was acquainted with the activities of the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Currently, Iraq has five significantly developed airlines, which conduct short and long-distance flights in many destinations worldwide.
Noteworthy, Iraq demonstrated the highest rate of Arab tourists, visiting Azerbaijan in the first half of 2016. Thus, the country was visited by more than 11,000 Iraqi tourists, which is 30 times more than in January-June of 2015. Direct flight performed by Iraqi Airways on route Baghdad-Baku-Baghdad allowed Iraqi tourists to visit Azerbaijan more frequently. Obviously, short distance between the countries also contributed to that.
Given this, continuation of Azerbaijani-Iraqi talks on aviation cooperation is definitely of great importance.
