Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee Yagub Eyyubov, Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Elman Rustamov, Director of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee and Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Mahir Mammadov visited Baku Crystal Hall, which will host the matches of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad.
The officials got acquainted with the preparations and noted that the venue is ready to host the Olympiad.
Following the hall tour, they hold a meeting with the national team, who will participate at the Olympiad. Azerbaijan will be represented by three teams.
The FIDE’s event will be held in Baku on September 1-14. As many as 176 countries were registered to take part in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad. As many as 182 men’s and 142 women’s teams will be competing for the championship in Baku.
The Olympiad, which will be held in Baku Crystal Hall, consists of 11 rounds. The first round will be held on September 2, and the Olympiad will end on September 13.
The solemn opening will be held on September 1 at the National Gymnastics Arena. The competition will last until September 14.
