Baku 2015 closing ceremony to please everybody: Simon Clegg
The closing ceremony of the first European Games will be the event that will please everybody, Simon Clegg, the Baku 2015 chief operating officer, said at a press conference in Baku on June 27.
“Some 217 sets of medals will be awarded,” he said. “Azerbaijan ranks second in the medal standings.”
“The cycling BMX competitions will not be held due to the windy weather in Baku June 27,” he said. “This kind of competitions will take place June 28.”
The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
