Bulgarian leader to join closing ceremony of Baku 2015
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev plans to attend the closing ceremony of the First European Games in Baku, a diplomatic source told Trend June 11.
During the visit, the president will also hold negotiations with Azerbaijani officials.
This is while during the opening ceremony of the Games to be held June 12, Bulgaria will be represented by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. The government delegation also includes country’s sports minister and head of Bulgarian National Olympics Committee.
During the visit to Baku, the Bulgarian prime minister is expected to hold meetings with the country’s officials.
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
