Azerbaijan to build great Olympic villages for First European Games Baku 2015
One of the greatest Olympic villages in the world will be built
in Baku for the First European Games Baku 2015, Jim Scherr, the
Chief Operating Officer of Baku 2015 European Games Operation
Committee told Trend on September 26.
"The Olympic village in Baku will have good infrastructure," he
said. "All facilities for the First European Olympic Games will
meet the highest requirements and will be of high quality."
Scherr stressed that the Organizing Committee is controlling all
preparatory activities for holding the Games, including the
restoration of existing facilities, construction of new ones and
modernization of the transport infrastructure.
"Several operations have been finished," he added. "If to take into
account that we still have two and a half years, then you can
witness for the next three or four months that a big part of the
work will be completed."
Sherr said organizing the competitions, guest reception, and
servicing will be brought to the highest level for the beginning of
the Games.
"Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done," he said. "So,
the operations are being conducted on a tight schedule. Considering
that little time left before the competitions, of course, we will
rapidly continue working."
The General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee was held in
Rome on December 7-8, 2012. The representatives of 49 National
Olympic Committees have by the secret ballot and a majority of
votes chosen Baku to be the host city of the inaugural European
Games to start in Baku in 2015. More details of the "First European
