Western Azerbaijan Community's letter to UN becomes official UN document
The Western Azerbaijan Community’s letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been officially circulated as documents of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, according to a statement issued by the community, Azernews reports.
The letter highlights a speech delivered by Armenia’s former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan in 1993, where he reportedly confirmed that "ethnic cleansing and occupation are the state policy of Armenia" and described the expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia as a "historic achievement."
The community emphasized that its letter serves as vital evidence demonstrating Armenia’s "racist policies" and "crimes against humanity and peace." The distribution of the letter as official UN documents underscores its importance in establishing Armenia’s accountability for these actions at an international legal level.
The Western Azerbaijan Community stated that it is committed to continuing its efforts to bring this issue to the attention of regional organizations and international NGOs advocating for human rights, alongside its engagement with the UN.
