Presentation of a documentary titled “Vandalism”, shot by request of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Associations and with the support of the Trend Agency, has been held in Nizami Cinema Center.
Emil Huseynli is the author of the idea and the script.
Before the presentation, Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations, said that many monuments were destroyed in the occupied territories as a result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan.
"Armenians destroyed our mosques located in the occupied territories and committed many acts of vandalism," said Gurbanli.
"The film is displayed with English subtitles, and I think this film is important from the point of view of communicating the acts of Armenian vandalism to foreigners,” he added.
Addressing the film’s presentation, Bahar Muradova, deputy speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, said that Armenia committed crimes against humanity by destroying historical monuments in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
Deputy Director General of Trend Agency Arzu Naghiyev expressed the agency's gratitude to all participants of the event, including the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations and all those who contributed to the creation of the film.
"The purpose of this film is to inform the world about crimes committed by the Armenians," he added.
Armenian invaders continue destroying the monuments regarded as the tangible cultural heritage in the occupied Azerbaijani territories. These historical monuments are the heritage of not only Azerbaijani nation but also of all mankind. The destruction of Azerbaijani cultural monuments, illegal trade of cultural objects accompanied by illegal archaeological excavations in fact erase the traces of true history.
Overall, since the beginning of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Armenian aggressors destroyed 1,200 historical and architectural monuments, looted 27 museums, over 100,000 items were exported to Armenia. In addition, the Armenian occupiers destroyed 152 religious monuments and 62 mosques, 4.6 million books in 927 libraries, including the Holy Quran and rare Islamic manuscripts.
