Azerbaijani gymnast Anton Yashin took second place at the Scherbo Cup international competition held in Belarus.

According to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), the 16-year-old athlete won a silver medal in the final, gaining 12.8 points.

The winner of the international competition was experienced Belarusian gymnast, Olympics participant Dmitry Barkalov, who competed with the juniors by the decision of the organizers. Thus, Yashin's "silver" is an award of the highest level. Moreover, he was the only junior in the final.

Another Azerbaijani gymnast, Kamran Hajiyev, took part only in the multisport race, where with an overall result of 68.4 points he ranked 12th among 37 participants.

However, experts conclude that this success is not enough to fully participate in the European championship to be held in 2014, as well as the II Youth Olympic Games in China. In this connection, a training course, along with participation in regional and international tournaments, will be continued.

As for the senior gymnasts, they continue the preparations for the World Cup to be held in September-October in Belgium.
