AZAL plane makes emergency landing at Sharjah Int’l Airport
Airbus A320 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), which was flying from Baku to Dubai, has made an emergency landing at the Sharjah International Airport, a source in the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport told Trend June 11.
Sharjah International Airport is a key one for the Air Arabia budget carrier and is located 15 kilometers away from Dubai.
The plane, which took off from Baku at 09:00 (GMT+4 hours), was supposed to land at the Dubai International Airport at 11:55.
"However, in connection with holding the event of national importance, the Dubai International Airport was closed for flights," the source said. "The AZAL plane got permission to land at the Sharjah International Airport. In the near future, the plane's passengers will be sent to Dubai on buses."
