Turkmenistan to produce gasoline out of natural gas
Turkmenistan has launched work to construct a plant for production of gasoline out of natural gas, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported on March 2.
Being the world’s largest project for gasoline production out of natural gas, the plant will make a valuable contribution to Turkmenistan’s economic development, said the report.
The plant will be located in the country’s Ahal region.
The plant’s construction project is being implemented in line with a contract between Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas State Concern and a consortium of companies, which includes Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and Turkey’s Renaissance Holding.
The project’s total cost is estimated at $1.7 billion.
The gasoline plant will be equipped with the latest hardware and use the technologies by the Danish company Haldor Topsoe.
The plant, to be commissioned in December 2018, will annually process about 1.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600,000 tons of high quality RON-92 gasoline.
