Iran to make operational new homemade radar
Iran will make operational new homemade long-range radar in the near future.
The new radar dubbed “Ghaem” can detect objects within a range of 1000 kilometers Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported Sept. 14.
The installation and setup process of the radar is underway in one of the country’s air defense bases, commander of Iran 's Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said.
Once Ghaem comes on stream it will help the Islamic Republic to monitor aerial activities in the region.
No further details unveiled about the radar yet.
Iran recently made operational a long-range radar called Nazir and a 3D radar called Bina. The radars have been built fully through domestic expertise.
Since 1992 Iran has been relying on domestic talent to produce various sorts of missiles, radars, tanks, destroyers, etc. as the country has been under international restrictions to buy military object from abroad.
Tehran says its military power is solely defensive and poses no threat to anyone.
