Iran to cancel nuclear deal if US imposes new sanctions?

At least 220 Iranian MPs have signed a bill that will oblige the President Hassan Rouhani’s government to cancel the Geneva nuclear deal, in case if there are any new sanctions imposed on Iran from the US.

Ebrahim Karkhanei, chairman of the Iranian parliament's nuclear committee forecasted that more MPs will sign the bill in coming days, Iran’s Fars news agency reported Feb. 2.

The bill reads that Iran will implement a comprehensive nuclear deal only if sanctions are lifted all at once, the Iranian MP said.

Karkhanei added that according to the bill if the US side takes new steps to impose sanctions, Iran would cancel the Geneva nuclear deal and resume its suspended nuclear activities.

The bill had been tagged with an "urgency" status, meaning it could be discussed in parliament shortly, he said.

The Iranian lawmaker further added that the MPs will present the bill to the parliament’s presiding board as soon as gathering the signs completed.

He also argued that the Western countries should recognize Iran’s nuclear rights.
The United States is responsible for any potential failure of the nuclear talks, Karkhanei added.

Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani earlier said that the Iranian MPs have a plan for enriching uranium at every level, which will come into force, if the US imposes new sanctions.

Talks between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China plus Germany) group have been extended until July 1, 2015 to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement.

After the sides failed to meet the 24 Nov. 2014 deadline they also extended the Geneva nuclear deal, which was signed in November 2013 for providing Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities.
