Georgia to buildtwo hydropower plants
Georgia will construct two hydropower plants on the rivers of Didkhevi and Stori in the eastern region of Kakheti.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has signed a decree, under which the companies that won the tender announced earlier, will carry out a feasibility study for the construction project, construction, ownership and operation of the hydroelectric power plants.
The hydroelectric power plant on the Didkhevi River will be built by the Deka Ltd., according to the decree.
Its installed capacity will be 1.3 megawatts, generating seven million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
Gota Ltd. will build the power plant on the Stori River. Its installed capacity will be 14 megawatts with an annual output of 69.37 million kilowatt hours.
The Georgian Energy Ministry was tasked to draft a memorandum of understanding with companies for construction of these hydroelectric power plants.
Afterwards the projects will be submitted to the government of Georgia.
