Baku, Tbilisi, Ankara mull trilateral defense co-op

Trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey in the defense sector was discussed within the Tbilisi summit, Georgian Security Council Secretary Irina Imerlishvili told journalists on May 7.
"We have the military cooperation with Turkey, as well as with Azerbaijan, which are bilateral," she noted. "The sides discussed possible transition to the trilateral cooperation format. The ministers cooperate very closely, but this cooperation is in bilateral format so far."
Imerlishvili said the Tbilisi summit stressed that existing relationships will not be only continued, but will become even more intensive and close.
Tbilisi hosted the trilateral summit of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey on May 6. The presidents called for expansion of trilateral co-op in all areas.
