New grain terminal to be opened in Georgian port

The Pace Group company together with APM Terminals - Poti and Agricom companies will open a wheat processing terminal in the Poti port on May 17.

It is supposed that the ceremony will be attended by Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and members of the government.

The event will be also attended by U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland, his Deputy for Economic Affairs John Ashworth, Azerbaijani Ambassador Azer Huseyn, Turkish Ambassador Levent Murat Burhan and Israeli Ambassador Yuval Fuchs, Acting Minister of Agriculture Giorgi Shervashizhe, Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and others.

According to Pace Group, such a terminal has never been in Georgia. The facility will allow the exporting countries from the Central Asia to consider Georgia as an alternative route for wheat export to the countries of Mediterranean and Black Sea. The terminal capacity is 500,000 tons per year.
