The pleasure group in miniskirts: 17 beauties hand-picked by Kim Jong-un

Japanese journalist Osamu Eya gave thorough analysis on imagery data including videos to get peek into the dictator's best kept secret.

The pleasure group is a mirror that reflects the preposterous side of North Korea where the dictator indulges in an extravagant life while forcing people into destitution. This document contains the journalist's elaborate analysis on the beauties that were selected by Kim Jong-un.

Kim Jong-un attended the newly-formed Moranbong Band's July 6 concert, in which the theme song of the movie "Rocky" was played and Disney characters such as Micky Mouse appeared. Both the concert and the mystery woman sitting next to the young leader drew much attention.

Since the Korea Central News Agency confirmed on July 25 that the leader's unidentified companion was his wife Ri Sol-ju, multiple media outlets have published an array of reports on her. However, little media attention has been directed to Moranbong Band, which the KCNA described as "a fledgling band directly organized by Kim Jong-un aiming to suit the needs of the new century."

It is well known fact in the ROK and Japan that Kim Jong-il, father of Kim Jong-un, recruited a female squad called the pleasure group to entertain invitees of secret feasts.

Before Wangjaesan Light Music Band and Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble were formed in 1983 and 1985, respectively, and their concerts made accessible to the public, Kim Jong-il enjoyed the musical performances prepared for him by the pleasure group in private.

It is unclear whether Kim Jong-un formed Moranbong Music Band to emulate his father or because he just wanted a band of his "own." However, it is noteworthy that Kim Jong-un attended the band's first performance accompanied by his wife, something that would have been unthinkable if it had been Kim Jong-il.

Kim Jong-un's beauties are 3 centimeters taller than his father's

In early September of each year, fifty North Korean girls, who just turned 18 and graduated from highschool, are picked to become the next members of the pleasure group. The fifty girls are then divided into three groups, the Satisfaction Group, Happy Group, and the Dance and Sing Group.

The twenty Satisfaction Group members are selected based on their sexual attractiveness and are trained to provide sexual services. The twenty Happy Group girls provide massage and acupressure services. The ten Dance and Sing Group girls dance, sing, and play instruments to create a festive atmosphere during various events and gatherings. Being selected to the pleasure group is considered one of the highest honors in North Korea.

Oh Young-hee, who defected to the ROK in 2002, was once a member of the Dance and Sing Group and later performed as a dancer with Wangjaesan Light Music Band. She testified that Wangjaesan Light Music Band is comprised of three separate teams of twelve dancers, Jindallae (azalea), Mokryoun (mangolia), and Baekilhong (crape-myrtle).

Eleven instrumental players and six singers performed before the Kim Jong-un couple during Moranbong's first concert, all of whom were stunningly beautiful. However, as can be seen in the picture, all the girls share friendly and warm features which rekindle the memories of his mother, Ko Young-hee, in Kim Jong-un. This sheds light on the fact that the young dictator may still be yearning for his mother's love as Ko died when he was twenty-one.

On August 12, 2011, the Korean daily, Joongang Ilbo, reported that out of the 200 candidates whom the Section 5 of Party's Organization and Guidance Department selected in the period from February 2002 to August 2009, Kim Jong-un hand-picked 90 girls, citing information from the North Korea Strategic Information Service Center, a state-run organization dedicated to aggregating and disseminating strategic information on North Korea.

Kim Jong-il set the selection criteria in height at 165 cm or shorter probably because he was relatively short, whereas Kim Jong-un placed the ceiling at 168 cm. For this reason, it is believed that the selection body had to go through the screening all over again.

The July 6 concert was divided into two parts. In the second part, singers and four instrumentalists including violinists appeared on the stage in miniskirts, catching the audience off guard.

Moranbong Band must have a dance company like Wangjaesan Light Music Band, but sadly, this time around, the dancers did not show up. Satisfied with the first concert of the band, Kim Jong-un ordered that the band showcase its performance once again at a ceremony marking the signing of the Armistice Agreement, or what North Koreans call a celebration of "Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War."

On July 27 of the Armistice Day, however, Moranbong was not included in a show at the ceremonial event where People's Army Ensemble, Labor State Chorus, and Unhasu Orchestra performed. The fact that Kim Jong-un's instruction was not executed is a clear sign that the new Kim Jong-un regime has not taken firm root.
