SOCAR-AQS beats new drilling record
By Aynur Jafarova
SOCAR-AQS LLC, an integrated drilling and well services management company in Azerbaijan, has drilled well No 352 from Platform No 13 located on the shallow water Gunashli field to target depth of 2,950 meters.
The company completed drilling of the well No 352 within record time of 26 days without any incident or harm to the environment, and with high quality.
The well No 352, with the target depth of 2,950 meters, is the fastest ever well drilled into Fasila Layer on the shallow water Gunashli field.
The drilling works on this well commenced in May and ended in June, when the well reached its target depth of 2,961 meters.
The previous drilling speed record, which also belongs to SOCAR-AQS, was 29 days, when the well No 351 was drilled for 29 days from the same platform to the depth of 3,100 meters.
Despite the fact that the time set by the customer for drilling and completion of wells into Fasila Layer is minimum 90 days, SOCAR-AQS could complete the work a lot ahead of schedule, thanks to implementation in its operations of new methods of management, new technologies, standards and approaches.
The customer of drilling works is Azneft Production Unit.
