By Trend
Great progress has been achieved in the process of
implementation of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project since
the groundbreaking of the pipeline.
Today marks six months since the start of TAP’s construction. The
groundbreaking ceremony for the pipeline was held May 17, 2016 in
Greece.
Looking back at the progress achieved during this period, 178
kilometers of the pipeline’s route has been cleared, 102 kilometers
of pipes has been strung and 70 kilometers of pipes have been
welded so far, TAP said on Twitter.
Recently, the work for the rehabilitation of access roads and
bridges in one of the most remote areas of Albania’s Korca region
was completed as part of the implementation of the TAP project.
TAP project has upgraded or built approximately 15.5 km of roads
and 9 bridges, connecting the remote mountainous areas of Korca
with the urban centers.
TAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the
priority energy projects for the EU.
TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of
development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to
the EU countries.
The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian
Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece,
Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's
south.
