"Tango of Love" to be staged in Baku
By Nazrin Gadimova
Azerbaijan's State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will host the premiere of "Tango of Love" on May 14.
The news was announced by the Theatre's press service.
The ballet performance will be staged to the music of world-famous music composers, including the legendary Astor Piazzolla, an Argentine tango composer, bandoneon player, and arranger whose oeuvre revolutionized traditional tango into a new style termed nuevo tango, incorporating elements from jazz and classical music.
The ballet choreographer is the famous Russian choreographer, People's Artist of Russia Lilia Sabitova, who has created a drama about great love and hate, fighting to possess one's beloved and brutal revenge.
All of this will be presented in the incendiary style of hot tango.
Major roles will be performed by People's Artists of Azerbaijan Kamilla Huseynova and Gulagasi Mirzoyev, as well as Azerbaijan's Honored Artists Samir Samedov and Veronica Arazova.
Spectacular ballet costumes and scenery accompanied by beautiful music and choreography will not leave anyone indifferent.
Being the founder of the Ballet Theatre, Lilia Sabitova has participated as the Guest Principal dancer with Stars of Bolshoi Ballet Company in their tours around the globe. She was also involved in numerous international tours with many others Russian ballet companies and theatres.
Sabitova became an Artistic Director of the new-founded Moscow State Ballet Theatre in 1990, and took part in the Bolshoi Theatre celebration of Feodor Chaliapin Anniversary as choreographer and dancer.
