Cultural samples, related to the Middle Ages have been found in southern region of the country - Jalilabad.

The discovery was made in Khanagah village. Ilham Pashayev found the samples at his country yard after heavy rains that washed away part of the land there. The attention of the site owner was attracted by the human bones.

After the excavations, human bones and household items were discovered.

The historians said that the archaeological specimens are rare finds related to the religion of Zoroastrianism, practiced until the Middle Ages. People in this territory were buried according to funeral traditions of this religion.

The shape and size of the cranial bones showed that among the buried there are men, women and children. Detection among the graves of painted objects of everyday life speaks of a high level of craftsmanship at this area.

The historian Rza Rzayev said that archeological discovery may shed light on Azerbaijani culture of the Middle Ages.

Jalilabad is one of the ancient regions of Azerbaijan, which hides many secrets under the ground. During numerous excavations carried out in the territory of the region, scientists discovered a number of archaeological findings of great historic importance.

In 2016 scientists revealed an ancient temple during an expedition in Gullutepe village of the region. A lot of jewelry and ancient tools belonging to the Neolithic period were also discovered during the excavations.

The temple is the oldest temple found not only in the territory of Azerbaijan, but in the whole Caucasus.
