Railway modernization in focus

The fleet of the Azerbaijan Railway transport will now include new double-decker electric trains from the brand - KİSS.
Azerbaijan Railways Head Javid Gurbanov visited the Stadler Minsk plant of the Stadler Rail Group under the 62nd Railway Transport Council session of the CIS countries in Minsk, company spokesman Nadir Azmammadov told Trend.
Azerbaijan Railways and the Stadler Rail Group discussed possible ways of modernizing Azerbaijan railway system in Baku in early May. Under the cooperation the sides signed an agreement for the supply of five double-decker electric trains.
The electric trains will be sent to Azerbaijan by the Stadler Rail Group, which specializes in the production of carriage or the broad-gauge railway of CIS countries, Azmammadov confirmed.
The modern plant for the production of railway and urban passenger electric transport Stadler Minsk builds 120 cars per year. Currently, 25 double-decker trains are already under construction for Russian railway operator Aeroexpress.
Azerbaijan Railway received 72 new freight railroad cars this May, within the framework of the deal signed between Azerbaijan Railways and Uralvagonzavod on March 2015.
