Power line linking Georgia, Azerbaijan upgraded
Georgia's Vice Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, director general of GruzRosenergo JSC Romeo Mikautadze, representatives of the government and energy companies familiarized themselves with the reconstruction work on the 330-kilowatt Gardabani power line.
The work was carried out in two stages.
The first phase involved repair work providing the replacement of porcelain insulators with the glassy ones. Insulators at the Gardabani-500 substation are currently being replaced.
Gardabani power line is intersystem power line of high voltage power system which links Georgia and Azerbaijan through the Gardabani and Agstafa substations and ensures their work in parallel mode.
The reliability and stability of power lines will significantly increase, ensuring safe and uninterrupted exchange of power between the two countries in the result of the work.
This power line gets the special role in case of an accident in the energy industry, as the supply of electricity from Azerbaijan to Georgia in case of force majeure is taking place along this line, Kaladze said.
