IBA-Georgia begins to issue bank cards
BAKU – The International Bank of Azerbaijan – Georgia has began to issue VISA International bank cards.
Clients of IBA-Georgia, IBA’s subsidiary in the neighboring South Caucasus republic, now have the opportunity to become Visa Electron, Visa Classic and Visa Gold cardholders. In the future the bank intends to extend the proposal by providing such premium types of cards as Visa Platinum and Visa Infinite.
According to the bank’s Board of Directors Chairman, Samir Valiyev, it is expected that emission of bank cards will allow the bank to significantly expand the scope of cooperation with both existing and potential customers.
Valiyev said IBA-Georgia’s board also plans to invite corporate customers to participate in the Salary Card project, which allows company employees to receive salaries and other payments by credit card.
Valiyev noted that there were extensive plans to expand IBA-Georgia’s activity, including a significant expansion of the ATM network (currently four ATMs operate in central Tbilisi) and the installation of POS terminals in trade service outlets.
IBA-Georgia is a Resident Bank of Georgia with 100 percent foreign capital established on November 2006. The authorized and paid capital stock of the bank amounts to 12 million Lari (some $7 million). 75 percent of its shares are held by IBA, Azerbaijan’s leading bank.
IBA-Georgia provides a wide range of services to both corporate clients and private individuals.
