By Gunay Hasanova
Starting next year, Azerbaijan will export horseflesh to Moldova, the State Service for Veterinary Supervision under the Agriculture Ministry reported on December 5.
The exports will be carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded between the companies of Azerbaijan and Moldova in 2016.
The service reported that workshops will be held in a number of regions, including the Ganja region, to inform about the horseflesh exports. Moreover, service of veterinary-sanitary expertise should be established.
The state service office informed that cutting off horses will be conducted under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Further, the meat will pass veterinary-sanitary inspection, and only after this it will be exported to Moldova with the support of Moldovan companies.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Moldova exceed $4 million in 2015, according to the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee.
Both countries are members of a free trade area that were signed into law in 1994 with the participation of the CIS countries.
Within the free trade agreement, member countries are expected to eliminate export and import duties on a number of goods. An agreement was also signed on the basic principles of currency regulation and currency controls in the CIS.
