Azerbaijan is actively preparing for this year’s significant sport event, the inaugural European Games to be held from June 12 to 28 in the country capital, Baku.
Elnur Huseynov, the Azerbaijani representative for the
Eurovision Song Contest 2015, which will take place in Viennathis
May shared his impressions about Baku 2015.
”I think that for many this is a number one event,” said Elnur,
“First of all, such an event was never held before. Second,
Azerbaijan has been honored with hosting the Games.”
All the country is waiting with anticipation to host the event, and the capital has gone through many changes to meet over 6,000 athletes, and some 3,000 accompanying staff, from 50 countries.
Talking about the changes the city underwent ahead of the Games, Elnur noted how Baku had now reinvented itself a real European metropolis; ready to welcome and entertain thousands of tourists. The Games include 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic.
“Many large-scale infrastructure transformations have been conducted. Every new event will help in showing the beauty of the city. The same was done when the country held the Eurovision Song Contest 2012,” he said.
As part of the Eurovision 2015, Elnur visited many European countries and he said that Europeans are very interested in the Games. “In Europe people are interested in the upcoming grand event. I, with great pleasure talk to them about it. But I also tell them about our ancient history, out rich culture and the beauty of the country,” he noted.
In 2008, Elnur together with Samir Javadzada represented the country in the Eurovision in Belgrade for the first time in the country’s history. The successful duo took the eighth place. Now, Elnur is waiting with anticipation to attend the Games. He claims that as a pioneer in Eurovision he will also support the pioneers of the European Games.
Elnur is an Azerbaijani singer, born in 1987. At the age of five, Elnur had his first experience with music, when he started attending piano and vocal classes. Later on, Elnur began to experiment with different music styles such as classic, jazz and pop.
