President Aliyev holds several meetings – UPDATE
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received former President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko on March 9, Azertac state news agency reported.
The importance of the Global Baku Forum organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center was emphasized. The sides noted that the event contributed to the expansion of international cooperation.
The significance of discussing political, economic, security, multiculturalism and other issues at the Forum was stressed during the meeting.
Later, President Aliyev received former President of Serbia Boris Tadic.
The sides hailed the great work done by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center in a short period of time, saying the center turned into an important international organization.
They underlined the significance of the issues discussed at the Global Baku Forum in terms of the expansion of international cooperation.
The sides stressed the importance of the Forum in promoting Azerbaijan.
Also, President Aliyev received former Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdelsalam al-Majali.
On behalf of King Abdullah II of Jordan, former Prime Minister Abdelsalam al-Majali greeted the head of state and congratulated him on the occasion of the Global Baku Forum.
Saying he was happy for Azerbaijan`s great strides in the last years, Abdelsalam al-Majali noted that he was impressed by construction work in the country and the capital.
The sides highlighted the international importance of the fourth Global Baku Forum, emphasized the significance of the yearly increasing interest in the event, and said the forum provided a good opportunity for participants to familiarize themselves with Azerbaijan.
Abdelsalam al-Majali handed a letter of King Abdullah II of Jordan to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state thanked for greetings of King Abdullah II, and asked Abdelsalam al-Majali to extend his greetings to the King of Jordan.
On the same day, the President received former Prime Minister of the State of Israel Ehud Barak.
The sides emphasized that the 4th Global Baku Forum had already turned into a major international event. They pointed to a number of important issues on the agenda of the forum. It was noted that the Global Baku Forum had created a good opportunity for discussing the ongoing global processes.
