French observers happy with Azerbaijani parliamentary election

French observers are happy with the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, the French National Assembly’s Member Thierry Mariani, who is taking part in an observer mission at the Nov. 1 election, told reporters.

Mariani said he and Michel Voisin, a member of the French National Assembly and chairman of the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, have visited several polling stations.

He said the voting is going on well and there are numerous observers at the polling stations.

Mariani added that this was his tenth visit to Baku.

As many as 503 international observers from 40 organizations and over 66,000 local observers are watching the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan.

Some 767 candidates are running for 125 seats in the country’s parliament.
