Foreign Ministry: Arson in German refugee camp maybe motivated by xenophobia
A fire occurred in a refugee camp in Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Bavaria, Germany August 21. A group of migrants from Azerbaijan also lived there.
“It is not ruled out that the cause of the fire is a manifestation of xenophobia and racial discrimination,” Hikmet Hajiyev, the spokesman of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry, told Trend August 24.
Hajiyev was commenting on the incident.
"Bavaria’s officials also stressed that there is the possibility of arson motivated by xenophobia and racial discrimination,” he said. “We hope that the investigation will be carried out objectively and thoroughly and the perpetrators will be punished."
