Armenian Armed Forces have broken ceasefire with Azerbaijan 24 times in numerous positions over the past 24 hours, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on November 18.

Armenian armed forces, located in the village of Mosesgekh of Armenia’s Berd district, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the village of Alibayli of the Tovuz district.

Also, Azerbaijani positions, located in the village of Qizilhajili of the Qazakh district, took fire from the positions located in the Berkaber village of Armenia’s Ijevan district.

Azerbaijani positions also took fire from the positions located near the villages of Yusifjanli, Sarijali of the Aghdam district, Ashagi Veyselli of the Fizuli district and Kuropatkino of the Khojavend district.

Azerbaijani positions also underwent fire from the positions located at the nameless heights of Goranboy, Fizuli, Khojavand districts.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
