SOCAR-AQS holds training course on oil and gas industry for journalists

SOCAR-AQS LLC, an integrated drilling and well services management company in Azerbaijan, has held an educational training on oil and gas industry for a group of journalists working with the company.

The event was held on July 21, on the occasion of 139th anniversary of National Press Day in Azerbaijan.

During the event, SOCAR-AQS presented a slideshow about safety measures conducted by the company.

Later, Director of SOCAR-AQS, Ramin Isayev spoke about the company's activities. He said SOCAR-AQS was established between Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR and Absheron Drilling Company in 2007.

The main scope of the company's activities is offering services related to drilling oil and gas wells.

SOCAR-AQS is currently performing drilling works with three rigs located on two stationary platforms on Shallow Water Gunashli field. SOCAR-AQS is also operating with one drilling rig under a contract with Bahar Energy Operation Company.

SOCAR-AQS continues to prepare for drilling on Umid and Western Absheron fields. The West Absheron field is owned by Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR's Absheronneft Oil and Gas Production Department.

The offshore Umid field was discovered in 2010. It is located 75 kilometers far from Baku. The deposit reserves of the field are over 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate.

The company has been a contractor member of IADC since 2009. SOCAR-AQS has been certified as a company meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007 international standards for Provision of Integrated Offshore Oil & Gas Drilling and Well Services, Casing Running Services, and BOP and Wellhead Equipment Repairing and Testing Services.

Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov, Editor-in-Chief of the 'Iki Sahil' newspaper Vugar Rahimzade, as well as Chairman of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) Umud Rahimoghlu addressed the event.

Later, a group of journalists were presented awards for close cooperation with SOCAR-AQS and on the occasion of the National Press Day.

The award ceremony was followed by a training course for journalists.
