The Iranian Embassy in Baku marked the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

Opening the ceremony, Ambassador Mohsun Pakayin briefed the participants on the achievements made by the Islamic Republic of Iran over the 35 years.

February 11 marks the 35th anniversary of the revolution that toppled the pro-U.S. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and brought revolutionary forces to power. Hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran to mark the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

In another part of his speech, Pakayin said Iran was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s state independence.

He also noted the Azerbaijan-Iran relationship had been developing successfully in all fields.

Azerbaijan's Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov, in turn, congratulated the Iranian people on the occasion on behalf of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev.

Regarding the relations between the two countries, Mammadov noted that reciprocal visits of two sides' presidents and documents signed have contributed to developing relations between the two countries.

Mammadov also recalled the meeting between presidents Ilham Aliyev and Hassan Rouhani in Davos.

He expressed confidence that joint efforts would pave the way for development of the relations.

The event saw a presentation of Pakayin's book on national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in strengthening the Azerbaijan-Iran ties.

The ceremony brought together Azerbaijan`s state and government officials, as well as MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in the country and public figures.
